Technics/Panasonic RXG0009 Gear

The gear RXG0009 was used in 90’s Technics/Panasonic drive mechanics. It is part or mechanism that is driving tape transport. Because it was made from semi-flexible material it tends to crack during the time.

Faulty gear can be replaced with 3D printed one. This type of drive mechanism is quite easy to disassembly – just follow service guide steps. You can find the gear here in schematics:

When replacing, you just need to pull black tiny wheel out of the shaft, replace the gear and put wheel back. You can see it in video bellow.

Here is video showing replacement of the gear and operation in drive mechanism.

Gear is compatible with following devices:
RS-BX828, RS-BX404, RS-BX606, RS-DC10, RS-E10, RS-TR555, RS-B555, RS-B565, RS-B655, RS-B665, RS-B755, RS-B765, RS-BX626, RS-BX707, RS-BX727, RS-BX808, RS-BX747.

Technics/Panasonic RDG0206 Gear

The gear RDG0206 is part of REM0043 assembly that is driving tape transport and cassette doors. Because it was made from semi-flexible material it also tends to crack during the time.

Gear RDG0206 (3D print replacement)

If you can hear ticking noise and tape transport and/or cassette door do not work correctly then it might be cause by cracked gear. Check service manual of your deck if there is RDG0206 (and REM0043). You can see it here:

Disassembly of this type of drive mechanic is slightly complex because you need to use soldering iron to de-solder motor contacts from PCB board. But it is not so complex as it looks like. Just follow instructions in service manual.

The gear RDG0206 is used in assembly together with REM0043 gear that might tend to crack too. It also available as 3D printed replacement.

You can see demonstration of replaced gears at video bellow

The part is compatible with following devices:
RS-BX501, RS-CA1060, RS-CH404, RS-CH909, RS-DC8, RS-HD505, RS-HD505ES, RS-CH510, RS-HD515, RS-HD515PPS, RS-HD75, RS-HDA710, RS-HDA710PPN, RS-TR170, RS-TR270, RS-TR373, RS-TR474, RS-TR575, RX-DT75, RS-TR777, RS-TR97, RS-AZ7.

It might work also with other devices – just check your service manual.

Technics/Panasonic REM0043 Gear

The gear that is attached to motor that drives tape transport and opening/closing of cassette doors. Because it was made from semi-flexible material it also tends to crack during the time.

REM0043 gear

If you can hear ticking noise and tape transport and/or cassette door do not work correctly then it might be cause by cracked gear. Check service manual of your deck if there is REM0043. You can see it here:

It is marked “Reel Motor” because gear was not provided separately as a spare part but together with motor.
However, you can replace just gear with 3D printed part. You need to use screwdriver as a lever to detach the old gear from shaft and then press new one on the shaft. Disassembly of this type of drive mechanic is slightly complex because you need to use soldering iron to de-solder motor contacts from PCB board. But it is not so complex as it looks like. Just follow instructions in service manual.

The gear REM0043 is used in assembly together with RDG0206 gear that might tend to crack too. It also available as 3D printed replacement.

You can see demonstration of replaced gears at video bellow

Technics/Panasonic RDG5772ZC Gear

Many Technics/Panasonic tape decks use this gear for tape transport. They were created from semi-flexible material that tends to crack during the time (well, the parts were produced back in 80’s or 90’s).

You can recognize problem with this gear when you hear ticking noise during playback. At the end you would not be able to play the tape at all, or only in one direction if you have reverse deck.

You can download service manual and disassembly the unit by following steps there. It should not be too complex. The gear is located typically here, the description should be RDG5772ZC.

Broken gear can look like this:

Then you can replace broken gear with my 3D printed one. It is also made from semi-flexible material that is similar to the original one. It was tested in many machines and it operate smoothly without noise.

You can see function demonstration bellow:
